Basics
Is SOSO VPN free? What's the catch?
SOSO is completely free with unlimited bandwidth. The app shows ads, and that ad revenue is what pays for the servers — that's the whole model. There is no paid tier and no feature locked behind payment.
Do I need an account or email?
No. SOSO has no registration, no login and no email requirement. Install it and it works.
Which devices are supported?
SOSO is an Android app, available on Google Play for phones and tablets. The per-app VPN feature requires Android 5.0 or newer.
Is there a data cap or speed limit?
No — bandwidth is unlimited and there are no speed tiers. Actual speed depends on your network, the server you choose and the protocol in use.
Connection & speed
The connection fails — what should I try?
Switch protocols in this order: IKEv2 → OpenVPN UDP → OpenVPN TCP. IKEv2 is fastest and works in most countries; TCP is the most persistent on restrictive networks.
If protocols don't help, switch to a different country server — success rates vary by location and network.
Which protocol should I use normally?
IKEv2, in most countries. It offers the best balance of stability and connection speed, and reconnects quickly when you move between WiFi and mobile data.
The VPN feels slow — how do I speed it up?
Three quick wins: switch to a closer or different country server, make sure you're on IKEv2 or OpenVPN UDP rather than TCP, and reconnect to get assigned a less busy server.
Can I use the VPN for only some apps?
Yes — per-app VPN (split tunneling) lets you choose which apps route through the tunnel. It requires Android 5.0 or newer and is configured inside the app's settings.
Privacy
Do you keep logs of what I do online?
No. During normal use we don't log any records related to you. The only exception is a connection-failure log that is collected only if you actively tap the feedback button after a failed connection — and it's used solely to improve connection success. Full details are on the No-Logs page.
Why does the app show ads?
Ads fund the free, unlimited service. Ads are served by third-party networks inside the app interface and are separate from your VPN traffic. See the Privacy Policy for details on advertising partners.
Does SOSO protect me on public WiFi?
Yes — that's one of its core jobs. The encrypted tunnel prevents others on the same open hotspot from reading your traffic.
Troubleshooting
How do I report a problem?
For connection failures, use the in-app feedback button right after the failure — it attaches the technical details our engineers need. For anything else, email {EMAIL}.
How do I uninstall or disable the VPN?
Disconnect with one tap in the app, or remove the app like any other: long-press the icon → uninstall. Android automatically removes the VPN configuration with it.
Ready in one tap.
Free on Google Play. No account, no sign-up — install and connect.
